From Luke 12:56  "You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky. How is it that you don’t know how to interpret this present time?"

This best describes Washington State’s Mainstream Republicans, a political association lost in defending the past of their “moderate,” “uniparty” accomplishments and accommodations to an increasingly radical-left-fascist Democratic Party, with whom they share power and influence.  As our nation moves towards a defining turning point of an American renewal, or a dystopian collapse into darkness, the “mainstreamers,” to preserve their current positions, instead of supporting the upsurge of opposition to the destruction of Washington State, have instead turned with savage fury against those new and emerging candidates and leaders who want to fight and defeat the radical deconstruction of Washington State and the nation. By not knowing “how to interpret this present time,” they are politically dooming themselves at the expense of the welfare of the citizens of Washington State.

Today’s Mainstream Republicans, officially founded in 1990 as an entity out of a yearly conference called the Cascade Conference, which began in 1977, and is still ongoing, is a tightly knit influential political network emanating from former Governor Dan Evans, his political associates, and three generations of their groomed proteges.  Dan Evans’ group emerged out of the University of Washington in the 1950’s.  They were seen then as a “progressive” wave of young Republicans who consolidated their rise with Dan Evans’ gubernatorial election in 1964. This network, spanning six decades, has been, and still is, the dominant power in Republican Party politics in Washington state since the 1960’s.

Among the first of the generation that assumed high posts in government, were Washington State Governor Dan Evans (1965-1977,) who also became U.S. Senator (1983-1989,) Washington State Attorney General Slade Gorton (1969-1981) who also became U.S. Senator (1981-1987, 1989-2001,) Washinton State Lieutenant Governor Joel Pritchard (1981-2001,) and Washington Secretary of State, Lud Kramer (1965-1975.)  The next generation included Washington Secretaries of State, Ralph Munroe (1981-2001) and Sam Reed (2001-2013). While the third generation included Washinton State Attorney Rob McKenna (2005-2013,) and Secretary of State Kim Wyman (2013-2021.)  The long-term occupation of the positions of Lieutenant Governor, 20 years, and Secretary of State, 56 years, by the mainstreamers, attests to the uniparty nature of their tenure.

Over the years, the mainstreamers based their cohesion on an adherence to a progressive view “of going to the middle,” which essentially meant sharing power with the Democrats, and conducting an electoral strategy of positioning to the slightly moderate right of the Democrats.  However, it may be one thing to approach politics in this manner, it is another thing to make such practices one’s political ideology and identity.

Their influence through the years is reflected in two control points:  One maintaining a gatekeeper capability for the flow of campaign funds for statewide candidates. This has resulted in a situation where most of the elected Republican Caucus in the State Capitol are aligned with the mainstreamers. The other is the vetting of successors.  One example of this can be seen in the career of the third-generation mainstreamer, Kim Wyman, who was appointed Thurston County auditor when Sam Reed, who had been a protégé of Lud Kramer left that position to become Secretary of State.  Later, when Sam Reed left the position of Secretary of State, electoral arrangements were made to place Kim Wyman in that position.

A notable project of the mainstreamers was introducing mail-in balloting to Washington State. Mail-in balloting has severely compromised the integrity of elections.  Secretary of State Ralph Munroe was a key promoter, followed by Sam Reed.  Reed’s protégé and successor, Kym Wyman, campaigned for Secretary of State based on implementing mail-in balloting.  To this day the Mainstream Republicans are proud of the mail-in balloting system they helped to create and spread, as a model, to the rest of the nation.  On their website one can find the following in the issues section: “Washington State’s system of elections is exceptionally trustworthy.”  In their qualifications for endorsing candidates, the Mainstream Republicans will not endorse any Republican candidate that does not support the trustworthy nature of mail-in balloting.

In areas of cooperation with the Democrats, the mainstreamers helped pass landmark environmental legislation shifting property rights from private owners to the government without compensation.  They went along with the spotted owl war on the timber industry and assisted the Democrats in legalizing abortion three years before Roe Vs. Wade.

On the national scene, the mainstreamers historically opposed Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and today, with much more intensity, Donald Trump.  Two mainstream U.S. Congress members voted to impeach Trump.  Throught their history, the mainstreamers opposed any political group or tendency that did not share their “moderate” views.  They banned the John Birch Society.  They opposed the evangelical Christians.  Later, they fought the Libertarians and the Tea Party.  Today the mainstreamers’ primary focus is to suppress and crush the growing influence of the America First movement of Donald Trump in Washington State.

However, throughout this history, while the mainstreamers maintained their moderation, the Democratic Party was undergoing dramatic changes from what would today be considered a Conservative orientation, to one that is corporativist, environmentalist, and radically left. This is summed up in the famous quip by Ronald Reagan, “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party, it left me.”

However, it was in 1980 that the Democratic Party of Washington State was taken over by members of Social Democrats U.S.A. This was largely made possible by the Carter Justice Department sting operations against key traditional Democrats leaders who were resisting, in the U.S. Congress and in the State Legislatures, the deregulation of our nation’s financial system, and other globalist policies that were being promoted by such institutions as the Trilateral Commission.  The Trilateral Commission selected Jimmy Carter to become President.

These sting operations extended into Washington State and took down the two most influential Democratic leaders just as they were preparing to run for statewide offices. These two were John Bagnariol, speaker of the State House, who was about to run for Governor against Dixie Lee Ray, and State Senate Majority Leader, Gordon Walgren, who was planning to run for State Attorney General, most likely against either Slade Gorton, or Ralph Munroe.

The sting operation was called Gamscam and used an FBI agent posing as a casino gambling promoter.  The abrupt political elimination of Bagnariol and Walgren greatly impacted the reelection campaign of Warren Magnuson, a nationally powerful traditional Democratic Senator.  This was key to mainstreamer Slade Gorton becoming U.S. Senator.  So not only did the Carter Justice Department sting operation help the Socialists to take over the Washington State Democratic Party, but it also helped the mainstreamers increase their influence.

Eventually, as conditions for the middle class became worse, and the socialist indoctrination that began coming out of the new Left grew in strength, Washington State succumbed to overregulation, bureaucratic growth, escalating taxes, defunding law enforcement, crime, transgender ideology, the homeless industrial complex, and more. Throughout this entire period, the mainstreamers still adhered to their religion of “going to the middle.”  There is no middle, there is only the middle in the same road to hell.  This is the tragedy of party politics in Washington State.

The future of the Republican Party is with the America First movement of Donald Trump which is reviving the Republican Party as the Party of the “Forgotten Men and Women of America.”  This is because otherwise, the nation and Washington State have no future.

Mainstreamers, and others, many others, please wake up and finally “Know how to interpret this present time.”
