At Promethean PAC we are focused on mass signatures to our petition telling the Senate to confirm all of Trump’s nominations or face political suicide in the 2026 midterms and otherwise. Now, we need to accelerate this campaign, getting whole groups and organizations to sign the petition. For example, Pete Hegseth’s nomination at Defense is now the subject of a national mobilization of veterans’ groups. Are there such in your community?
The past two weeks have seen big progress in this assault on the disgusting Washington consensus.” But winning still requires focused and expanding mobilization and relentless heat on your Senators in order to secure victory when hearings begin in January.
What follows is a report, a sitrep if you will, on the state of the Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard, and Kash Patel nominations. RFK, Jr’s, nomination at HHS, is also the subject of intense Swamp mobilization but has not featured battles on the Hill yet. Those four, in the center of the security state and the Pharma/Healthcare corrupt Leviathan have given Washington a major shock as this President seems intent on keeping his promises. They are reacting with muted furor now that the popular spotlight is on them.
Make no mistake: Without Trump kicking ass and taking names, and the People fully understanding his policy plans, the other types of policies which will rescue this nation, and mobilizing behind them, November’s message will get eroded; the blitzkrieg of actual change Trump has undertaken, and which is necessary to save the nation will be stalled. Promethean Action, our sister site, is covering the policy fights in depth. For example, the NDAA making its way through Congress now seeks to tie Trump’s hands in ending the forever wars and is fully supported by Republicans in Congress. You can find coverage of that fight at Promethean Action. We’re focused on the critical personnel fight here.
MAGA is now mobilized across all platforms for the confirmation fight and it has had an impact on a Senate which is only used to dealing with lobbyists, consultants, and the campaign donors, who generally run the place. Elon Musk pledging to fund primary opponents of Senators opposing Trump nominees in 2026, joined by other Trump megadonors, has altered the calculus of the 2026 midterms already. Generally incumbent Senators enjoy such a cash advantage over challengers that reelection is ensured.
Absent this campaign to change the mindset of this body, this Senate, and much of the newly elected Senate Trump will have to deal with, were fated to go down in history as one of the most corrupt legislative bodies ever known. Yet, based on citizens lighting up the Senate with phone calls, letters, and personal visits, even the Senate has begun to change and recognize the mandate the People delivered to Donald Trump. The People, in turn, having tasted what it is to act as a citizen, are now beginning to exercise their rights to be heard and to run their government.
Any of Trump’s nominees can only afford to lose 3 votes on the Republican side, because the assumption is that the Democrats will unite to oppose Trump’s nominees. At the time of the Matt Gaetz’s withdrawal and the opening salvo of attacks on Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth, there were at least 12 Republican Senators who were prepared to abandon their constituents in favor of the foul but lucrative norms of what some call the “imperial Capitol.” By that term, they draw a correct distinction between Washington and the rest of the country which still wishes to act as a sovereign Republic.
With the exception of Maine’s Sen. Susan Collins, all of these Republicans come from states which voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump and his agenda. But, all of them have passionately supported the forever wars which Trump has vowed to end.
With the recognition that if Hegseth went down, there would be blood in the water and the fate of many other important nominees would be compromised, MAGA went into mobilization mode throughout the country last week and the situation began to change.
Senator Joni Ernst of Indiana, who had made ridiculous statements against Hegseth, was both warned that a primary candidate was being fielded in Indiana and that candidate would be fully funded by those supporting Trump. She was also courted and organized by Senate colleagues, like JD Vance. By Tuesday, December 10th, Ernst had met twice with Hegseth and said she would support him.
Hegseth was also meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday with Senators Collins and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska two of the most anti-Trump people in the Senate. John Cornyn of Texas reversed course and said he would support Hegseth barring unforeseen developments, as did South Carolina’s Lindsey Graham.
That still leaves quite a few Senators not speaking for the record from the historically anti- Trump Senate Republican grouping: Senators Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Thad Young of Indiana, Tom Tillis of North Carolina, Mike Rounds of South Dakota, and, of course, the Tory Turtle, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, and his protege, the next Senate Majority leader John Thune of South Dakota. Utah’s newly elected Senator John Curtis, who replaces Mitt Romney, is not expected to be any better when it comes to assisting Donald Trump. Again, all are fully committed to the wars that Donald Trump has vowed to stop.
Tulsi Gabbard, Trump’s nominee for Director of National Intelligence began her round of Senate meetings on Monday, amidst the downfall of Assad in Syria and a disgusting and vicious campaign of lies against her. That narrative claims that Gabbard supported Assad in Syria and that she is a Russian pawn due to her fervent opposition to the Ukraine war.
Gabbard, an active-duty Lt. Colonel in the National Guard is a combat veteran of the wars in Iraq and Kuwait. As a Democratic Congressional Representative from Hawaii, Gabbard endorsed Bernie Sanders for President in 2016 because of her opposition to America’s involvement in foreign wars which lacked any defense or security interest for the United States. Like Lt. General Michael Flynn she called out the Obama Administration’s use of terrorist mercenaries form Al-Qaeda and other radical Islamist groups in Syria and the Middle East because of the potential for destabilization of the area and blowback, such as the creation of Isis.
It’s clear that Gabbard does not see Assad as a modern day Solon; she just can’t stomach supporting barbaric head choppers like Isis and using American troops to support them. She was also an opponent of America’s involvement in Ukraine, earning her the Putin lover designation from both Liz Cheney and Hillary Clinton.
General Flynn, of course, was fired for his truth telling by Obama and then targeted for FBI investigation and neutralization by the British in the Russiagate hoax. Gabbard campaigned for President in 2016 as a Democrat on a staunchly pro-defense, anti-imperial war platform and joined Trump and his Republican Party in 2024 based on the same ideas.
Thus, the knives are out for Gabbard from hardline war mongers, like Tom Tillis, and RINOs in the Senate Intelligence Committee who fully supported the Russiagate hoax aimed at paralyzing President Trump in his first term foreign policy dealings. That and the allied FBI Crossfire Hurricane investigation and the Mueller Special Counsel hoax set up to promote Russiagate, destroyed the lives of many very talented people who volunteered to work with Donald Trump. Journalist Matt Taibbi has written about this extensively recently and his pieces are well worth your time as you continue to discuss Hegseth, Gabbard and Kash Patel at FBI with your Senators.
Kash Patel is also doing Hill meetings and seems to be getting a better reception, at least according to the media. Senator Chuck Grassley, the powerful head of the Senate Judiciary Committee has signaled his support and sent a letter to Christopher Wray on Monday telling him to move on, citing the episodes of illegal lawfare and coverups over which Wray has presided.
In addition to the popular mobilization now underway, traditional Senate collegiality will play a role in this nomination process. There is a strong contingent of intelligence and defense hawks, like Tom Cotton, who Trump is in the process of converting to his worldview. Marco Rubio, Trump’s nominee to be Secretary of State, is in a similar situation and still has major influence in the Senate. But nothing substitutes for the popular mobilization now taking place and we need to escalate it.
